Richard B. Delgado has been teaching marching for Clovis West High School for over twenty years of his life! Richard started his tenure at CW in the summer of 1985 where he began working with the color guard and drum line in the caption of marching and maneuvering. Richard has studied marching under such names as Shirley Dorritie, Steve Sanger, and Brent Kline. He has also studied visual design under world-renowned drill writers Jay Murphy and Mike McCool. Mr. Delgado has been a percussionist for almost half of his life and his specialty is Latin Percussion.

Richard was Clovis West High School's second drum major; he held this position from 1982-1985. Richard became the Visual Director in 2000 and still holds this position. He is responsible for keeping the traditions alive at Clovis West High School and for teaching those traditions to all the current members of the Clovis West High School Marching Band and Color Guard. Richard also taught drum corps from 1992-1994 with the Marauders Drum and Bugle Corps from Longview, WA where he was a consultant and head marching instructor.

Mr. Delgado is not only knowledgeable in marching and drill design but in dance as well. He has studied Mexican Folkloric dance and has performed extensively in California, Mexico, and Spain. He was the director of Los Danzantes de Aztlan at California State University, Fresno in 1993 and 1994 and toured with them for eight years. He has also taught the folkloric dance group at Clovis West in the late '80s and early '90s. Mr. Delgado also teaches Latino dance in the Fresno/Clovis community as well as consulting for groups in and around the San Joaquin Valley.

Mr. Delgado is active in the San Joaquin Valley where he adjudicates marching bands, drum majors, color guards and winter percussion. He has helped run the Golden State Tournament of Bands, Western States Marching Band Championships, and the San Joaquin Valley Color Guard and Percussion Review circuit since the late '80s.

Richard has been blessed with two wonderful children Reyes and Macui, the love of his life, Diana, and two more children Christopher and Matthew. They are all the most precious things in his life as well as all the students that he has taught over the years.
